There is very real spiritual battle raging against our youth, particularly young men who are being taken captive by the enemy en masse.
You only have to look at suicide rates, addiction, domestic violence and incarceration rates to see that this battle rages around us. Porn has infiltrated our society with devastating results and the war is on for the identity of our boys.
There are many factors that contribute to this devastation, but ultimately we know that the answer lies in Jesus, and the restoration of boys to their true identity as sons of a loving Father, brought about through His sacrificial death and the glorious resurrection.
We need an army of warriors who are ready to take up arms to contend through prayer for the youth of Australia.
If the enemy has a strategy to bring down these boys, how much more should we have a strategy, as soldiers in the Lord’s Army, to bring them home. Youth for Christ has sought God for that strategy, which we’ll be launching in a few weeks at the National Gathering.
By raising up young evangelists for every electorate of Australia, we aim to rescue and restore the lost youth of our nation through peer-to-peer evangelism and discipleship, with a deliberate focus this year on young men.
As always, prayer is our most strategic anchor, which will be the difference-maker in all our other activities. We need an army of warriors who are ready to take up arms to contend through prayer for the youth of Australia.
To this end, we are launching 40 days of prayer and fasting for our nation’s lost boys, starting 26th Feb to coincide with the launch of YFC’s three-year strategy. Join with us for 40 days of prayer and fasting for the lost boys of our nation from Wednesday 26 February – Tuesday 5 April 2020.
Fasting is one of those things that is easy to say, but infinitely more difficult to do. Yet, in this spiritual battle over our boys, every weapon needs to be employed to see spiritual breakthrough! In reality, we are not called to pick up physical arms for this battle, so if all we need to do is ‘go without’ for a period of time, why wouldn’t we?
Let’s use this weapon of warfare as a weapon of ‘mass destruction’ against the enemy and his schemes.
In a physical war, the most feared weapon of all is the nuclear weapon. We know it’s a weapon of mass destruction that has a world changing impact. Franklin Hall wrote a little book in 1946 called ‘‘Atomic Power with God through Fasting and Prayer” in light of the new weapon of warfare that was launched with devastating results in 1945. He believed fasting was so powerful, spiritually speaking, that he used the atomic bomb as an analogy to the amazing impact it has. Let’s use this weapon of warfare as a weapon of ‘mass destruction’ against the enemy and his schemes.
So we invite you to join us in 40 days of prayer and fasting.
Step 1
Sign up to let us know you’ll be joining with us, and to receive a weekly devotional and prayer guide by email for the six weeks of the fast. We hope that as you read, you will be stirred like you’ve never been stirred before to pray for boys, fathers, brothers, uncles, sons, and that we will see the strongholds of the enemy broken over their lives.
You may also choose to organise a prayer group in your local area to pray for lost boys.
Please let us know if you do.
Step 2
Seek God on what you should fast from. This might include: meals, certain foods, sugar, caffeine, social media or TV. (More information about food fasting, including safety considerations, here.)
Step 3
Join us from Wednesday 26th February in prayer and fasting, and let’s help bring those lost boys home!
