Maria Folau: The Next Target
Now that Israel Folau has had his contract with Rugby Australia torn up, it seems that his wife Maria’s future with Netball South Australia as well as Netball Australia is also being called into question. Well, at least by certain journalistic activists in the media commentariat. For example, according to podcast producer, Eric George, in The Weekend Australian:
“The Adelaide Thunderbirds have found themselves in a very tricky — if entirely predictable — quagmire after star Kiwi shooter Maria Folau joined her husband Israel in a public fundraising campaign as he fights his former employer Rugby Australia.”
Honestly, this is whole thing is beyond ridiculous. What is she supposed to do? Publicly denounce her husband? That’s positively Stalinist, like one of the great Moscow show trials. Cue the media spin doctors and their scripted statement through the mouth of Bronwyn Klei, chief executive of Netball South Australia, who told The Advertiser that:
“We champion netball as a sport for anyone and everyone, from the players to umpires, spectators, clubs, and volunteers.”
But then George, goes on to inexplicably call for both Netball South Australian and Super Netball to step in so as to “assure fans its commitment to inclusion is sincere”. Seriously…? Because that approach has worked soooo well for Rugby Australia, hasn’t it?!
‘Inclusion’ and ‘tolerance’ are admirable qualities, that is of course, unless you are of a particular religious faith that is the majority cultural belief of those living in the Pacific Islands. No inclusion for the likes of those bigots. Just note that the article in The Weekend Australian went on to describe the behaviour of Maria Folau to her fellow non-heterosexual teammates:
“Collingwood star Ash Brazill recently told The Saturday Paper that Maria had supported her marriage to long-time partner Brooke Grieves in 2016.
Maria, apparently, has “always been lovely” to the couple, further muddying the picture.”
It’s difficult, isn’t it, when dedicated followers of Jesus—such as Israel and Maria Folau—act in ways that are contrary to the leftist narrative that ‘inclusion’ and ‘tolerance’ has to mean not only agreement, but also unqualified affirmation of those whom you disagree with? If only he had committed something less serious (such as dealing drugs or domestic violence perhaps), then he might have only gotten a few weeks’ suspension as opposed to a permanent life ban!
So, this is what we’re up against now. If they can’t get to you then they’ll come for your spouse and then the members of your family. Such is this glorious new age of ‘inclusion’ and in particular, ‘tolerance’.

I’m in agreeance that these individual attacks would have been better served if the man and his wife had a domestic violence case, or addiction to any of the other devices eg alcohol, prostitutes, drugs or even gambling. Whether you believe in the Bible or believe in nothing, that is still a belief and atheism, which believes that there is no God should also be banned. If you believe that your ancestors came from monkeys, that too is a belief system and should be banned.
Banning religions has been tried before and history says that it will not bring peace. Revolutions and movements of both left and right factions have discovered that abolishing religion creates a void that needs to be filled. This is why Robespierre re the French Revolution was against the excesses of dechristianisation. For Robespierre, he instituted the ‘Cult of the Supreme Being’ which only lasted for a little while before he lost his head. Totalitarian regimes have also been aware of this and have attempted to create a worship of the State or central figure representing the State. Such regimes have either collapsed or have created such oppressive conditions for their citizens who in reality have few fundamental rights. Solutions are never easy my friend. Let us celebrate our love of this country for what fundamental rights we do have and may we forever uphold them. Great article Mark. “Inclusion and tolerance” are a red herring. They are a ruse. A lie. It is simply not true that a lack of inclusion leads to suicide, which is the basis for the LBGTI’s unreasonable insistence on acceptance. The truth is; exclusion is a normal part of the human experience. Everyone, without exception, is excluded from somewhere, or something at any given time in their lives. Knowing we are excluded doesn’t make us want to kill ourselves. It actually helps us find our place. The whole ‘inclusion’ thing is a social scam. I say, let’s expose it!

What are you specifically doing for the poor & homeless in this country?
The only resource for us to know what Jesus would do is found in the Bible, which of course you must be familiar with. And here is what the Lord Jesus says “when I was in prison, you visited me, when I was in need to cared for me” If you would like to know more, read the Bible, particularly the New Testament, to know how Jesus would like us to act and react.

1. Folau quoted from the New Testament. He is not a Jew and so therefore is not obligated to obey the Old Testament “civil” and “ceremonial” laws. Hence, he’s not being inconsistent or hypocritical.

John K, in regards to Leviticus. Firstly, it is the mosaic. law and was not created as an eternal law, it was a temporary law that no one could actually attain to. God needed to show us how sinful we are, and how we cannot save ourselves. We needed to see how far away from his perfection we are. The bible says even our best works are like filfthy rags in comparison to Gods purity and perfection. The Jews also proved unable to live according to the mosaic law, and in doing so made their lives much more difficult (they were taken as slaves many times and persecuted like no other people group), yet God did not allow them to be wiped out completely (though many, namely Palestine, would love to see that happen even today). What other race has suffered as much intense persecution as Israel, yet Israel emerges strong despite that, is that a reflection on them and their holiness? No, it is a reflection on the fact that God keeps his promises! He promised abraham he would make Israel a great nation, and His word never fails. The Jews are less than 3% of the worlds population yet they hold 30% of the worlds wealth, and on top of that it’s the only country in the Middle East without oil so the prosperity isn’t attributed to having endless supplies of liquid gold buried under their land. God blesses them, despite their inadequacies and even their rejection of the Messiah, because He promised to do so, no other reason.
Leviticus 19:28 if you read the verses surrounding this one they relate to Israel, being required to set themselves apart from the pagan cultures that they had been exposed to for hundreds of years. It wasn’t uncommon to sacrifice children to appease the gods in the surrounding cultures. in the following verses it discusses how you shall not sell your children as prostitues (children were used as temple prostitutes). People involved in pagan cultures would cut themselves as a sacrifice to the gods, they didn’t know how many cuts to make so they would keep going until their prayer was answered, and I’m guessing many would have died prior to that happening. I personally wouldn’t get a tattoo but I also see that the more important part of that section of scripture is that when you become a Christian there should be a definite change in your character/lifestyle. The new ‘self’ should be different to the old ‘self’, not in outward appearance but from the inside and should be notable to others. Its not something that happens by our striving but as the work of the Holy Spirit presence with. Issy has not shown any hate/negativity, despite all the abuse thrown at him, that is worthy of respect. I think if the best the mockers can do is pick on the presence of a few tattoos on him then that shows an amazing strength of his character and admirable conduct on Issy’s part.
I think another thing to note is that Issy wrote an article last year on players voice, he titles it “I’m a sinner too”. Putting our trust in Jesus is recognition of our own insufficency in and of ourselves to do anything good enough to deserve Gods acceptance but through trusting and following Christ we can attain forgiveness and acceptance despite our personal inadequacy.
Quote from the Bible brings fear to non believers. Fear of what if it’s true! Goods new, it is!
Lift Jesus higher.
Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord and He will lift you up.
Humility I see here and they are lifted up. Encouraged and loved by the support of many.

Finding it incredibly sad that this great nation of tolerance has lost it’s way because of a few who think they can take advantage of the the fact that most Aussies don’t like to make a fuss about most things can push through their agenda! I sincerely hope she is not brought into this. Israel should never have made those comments, they are pro-him and reflect his views and desires, not that of the Christian faith. There is a time and place for judgement and that was not it. Who next will he line up, women caught in adultery. The best outcome would be for him to humble himself, acknowledge his words were judgemental, make peace with RA and get back playing sports. I don’t recall ever reading, ‘blessed are those that provoke division and sit in judgement on my behalf”. I may have a different version though.
