COVID19 Call to Prayer – March 23: Strength and Protection

Prayers:   Today’s lead prayer is from the Book of Common Prayer – written at a time when plague was far more common than it is for many of us today:

“O God, who knows us to be set in the midst of so many and great dangers,
that by reason of the fragility of our nature we cannot always stand upright;
Grant to us such strength and protection, as may support us in all dangers,
and carry us through all temptations; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”

Petition: Please also join with us in praying for:

  1. Our Political leaders – for wisdom in their deliberations and decision-making.
  2. Our Economic leaders – that they make decisions that consider people as their priority at this time.
  3. Our Church leaders – that they may have wisdom, unity and courage as they call people to faith and repentance.
  4. We pray for those who are seeking to develop a vaccine.

Repentance:   Let us confess our sin and pride, and humble ourselves before the Lord.

Thanksgiving:  We praise God that the death rate for Covid-19 appears to be significantly lower than other coronaviruses’.  We praise Him also for those who serve with skill and faithfulness in caring for the sick.
