Day 14: Lord, Our Eyes Are Upon You

Intention
We must set our eyes upon God rather than our own wisdom and plans, in order to see righteousness and life restored in Australia.

Scripture

“So Jesus explained, ‘I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by Himself. He does only what He sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows Him everything He is doing. In fact, the Father will show Him how to do even greater works than healing this man. Then you will truly be astonished. For just as the Father gives life to those He raises from the dead, so the Son gives life to anyone He wants.’”
John 5:19-21

Reflection
Abortion is an overwhelming issue, and for this reason, it is one that we perhaps have tried to address with our own thoughts and actions rather than seeking God’s wisdom, strategies and victory for righteous governance over our land.

During this month of prayer, we must seek God’s perspective on how we can act to see an end to the killing of innocent babies. Let us seek God’s plan is for the nation—how we as individuals and a body corporate made up of God’s sons and daughters—can take definitive and effective action based on what He reveals to us.

Surely the most amazing thing that God has done for us is to make us His children. In Galatians 3:26-29, the apostle Paul assures us that we are all sons of God—Jews and Gentiles, bond and free, male and female. He also tells us how we can be a son:

“As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
(Romans 8:14)

Given the right strategy, we, empowered by the Holy Spirit, can be life-givers (John 14:12).

The Lord is at hand. Let us commit to seek His face each day for the month of October 2020, stirring up the gift that is within us (see 1 Timothy 1:6), speaking to ourselves and each other in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs (see Ephesians 5:19). Share with each other the words (pneumatikon) that you receive, no matter how small. Every word from the throne room is significant.

Prayer

Father, as a people we have defiled Your land by passing legislation that has led to the killing of some 90,000 babies in the womb each year. You have shown Your anger by fire and drought, happenings which have been well deserved. We note, though, that You cannot deny Yourself and have continued to keep Your promise to send rain on the just and the unjust when the situation became desperate. We are amazed at Your continuing grace towards us.

We set our minds and hearts to see Your righteousness return as the principle guiding this nation of Australia. We come before You, seeking Your wisdom and strategies to turn the abortion tide.

We give You all the praise and all the glory. We love and appreciate You, beyond the telling of it, especially for the breakout of Your life within our being. We await Your divine instructions for actions leading to a breakout of Life in the Australian parliaments and a return to Your righteousness in our land.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.
