Adelaide Mum Takes on Local Council Over Sexualised Library Book
If an Adelaide mum can’t read from a sexualised book at a council meeting, why is the book available to children in the local library?
In public libraries across Australia, children can borrow and read numerous books apparently written for teens and young adults which contain cartoons and themes depicting sex and other adult content.
A brave Adelaide mum was shocked to discover one of these books on display at her local library and brought it to the attention of her local council. While holding a copy of the book up for the councillors, she was told she was not permitted to do so because the meeting was being live-streamed, and the sexually explicit content was inappropriate for viewers.
Book Approved by Australian Classification Board
This raises a rather obvious question: if the book is too explicit to be shown at a local council meeting, why is it unrestricted and on display in Australian public libraries and easily available for children?
This mum then paid $790 out of her own pocket to have the Australian Classification Board review the book’s classification status. Incredibly, though perhaps not surprisingly these days, they determined the book should remain unrestricted. She now faces the prospect of a $10,000 appeal fee to the Censorship Review Board if she wishes to challenge this further.
This raises another question: how can children have ready access to adult material in public libraries?
The Puzzling Drive to Sexualise Children
Parents are fed up with left-wing activists introducing sexual concepts and material to their children, and rightly so.
One wonders why the left of politics is so determined to sexualise children and teenagers. So-called progressives tend to have little respect for the innocence of children, the rights of parents to teach and raise them, and the dignity of the family, which they view as an institution that stands in the way of their activism.
Such material, often used in sex education classes, is damaging to young girls and boys, and contributing to the rise in adverse mental health issues that our young people face.
Striving for a Culture of Dignity
We must strive to promote a culture of dignity and respect for each other and maintain the once obvious principle that we have a duty to protect children from being exposed to sexual material. We must stop them from being sexualised by those who seek to take advantage of them, whether for political purposes or otherwise.
Rest assured, I will continue fighting for parents and children across the nation.

Thank you, Alex. Your stand against the corruption of our nation’s children and the assault being waged against ‘the family’ is much appreciated.
A good question indeed, however there is not a good answer.
Thank you for fighting the good fight Senator Antic.
Praying for you.
Thank you Senator Antic, for all you are doing about this issue, and many other issues too. You are gold. This book is actually child abuse.
