COVID19 Call to Prayer – March 27: Your Will Be Done
Your Will be done…”
It takes humility and real faith to pray this part of the Lord’s Prayer. Why? Because usually we are asking God to do our will. We want something. We ask Him for it. But real faith does not just tell our Father in Heaven what we want – but also submits that to what He wants – because we trust absolutely that His will is good, pleasing and perfect.
Jesus gave us the perfect example when in the Garden of Gethsemane, He prayed for the cup of suffering to be taken from Him. But in the same breath, He bowed to the will of the Father and added, “not my will, but Yours be done.” We are praying that all (including ourselves) would obey God’s will – but also that His will would be worked out throughout the whole world.
Petition: Please also join with us in praying for:
- South Africa – the most affected of the countries in Africa for the moment – with 927 recorded cases. The concern for the whole of Africa is that many people will not have access to good health treatment, especially if they are seriously ill.
- Queensland – There are now 493 cases in this State, which yesterday closed its Borders.
- Doctors and nurses and all those directly involved in what is going to be a tiring and stressful situation. May they be granted wisdom, strength and protection.
- Pastors – who have to shepherd their flocks from a place that most of them do not want to be – the safety of their own studies.
- That parents would be able to lead, care for and equip their children in this strange new world.
A Prayer of Repentance: O Lord, I confess the sins we Christians, including myself and my father’s house, have committed against You. We have acted very wickedly towards You. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws You gave us Your servants. (Adapted from Nehemiah 1:6-7)
A Prayer of Thanksgiving: We praise You Father, that You are not a God remote from us. That You see not only our sins, but also our pains and our joys. We ask You to have mercy on us. We thank You for this reminder of our own mortality – but help us to look beyond that to see the immortal life You offer to us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
