Day 17: Finding Your Life Purpose Through Repentance
Intention
To be aware of the Lord’s cleansing and calling in our lives.
Scripture
“Now, after John [the Baptist] was arrested and taken into custody, Jesus went to Galilee, preaching the good news of [the kingdom of] God, and saying, ‘The [appointed period of time] is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent [change your inner self — your old way of thinking, regret past sins, live your life in a way that it proves repentance; seek God’s purpose for your life] and believe [with a deep, abiding trust] in the good news [regarding salvation.]”—Mark 1:14-15 (AMP)
“You did not choose Me, but I choose you and appointed you that should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. These things I command you, that you love one another.” — John 15:16-17
Reflection
Humility and repentance are key to the Christian life. Jesus said, “Assuredly I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 18:3-4). By humbling ourselves and repenting, we enter His kingdom.
Following this, His Holy Spirit reveals His unique purpose for each of our lives. In these end times especially, today is the day to find one’s calling — one’s life purpose. Repentance is God’s gift by which we come into His Kingdom and then experience cleansing from old sin strongholds through our Teacher, the indwelling Holy Spirit.
The more we are cleansed, the more God reveals His unique purpose to each of us. He chose you and me to go and bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit — fruit that will remain! That sincere conversion from our old lives to His new character in us floods us with His joy, a joy never found in the world or in a dead church. That joy and other fruits of the Holy Spirit are His powerful spiritual weapons to bring in new souls.
Prayer
Dear Lord Jesus, thank You so much for Your gift of repentance. Thank You for awakening us in all nations to Your call on our lives. May a billion people on Your planet hear Your gospel in this month of May and be converted, finding their life purpose. Thank You for the love You have spread between Your nations. Thank You for the many in Australia that shared seven days of prayer and fasting for the National Day of Repentance and the National Day of Prayer in the United States. Bless them, Lord! Thank You so much for preparing us as Your Bride. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Hearing and receiving the word generate action. Together, by the grace of Christ, they open the way for his presence to break through — and for his word to touch others and produce lasting fruit. Only the received word becomes fruitful.

The responsibility for nurturing new believers does not rest with one or two designated church leaders or in any particular church structure. It rests with all of us.
