Blind Freddie Can’t Be Trusted
Popular culture demands that you don’t believe your lying eyes.
George Orwell once quipped that in a time of deceit, telling the truth becomes a revolutionary act.
And so it was that yesterday, someone stating the bleeding obvious created news headlines.
Australia’s leading athletics coach Nic Bideau said that including transgendered women in female competitions was unfair.
Wait. No. What?
Pitting biological men against women in sports was unfair?
How did he know?
Eyes!
Yep, Bideau has a pair, and he isn’t afraid to use them.
Now it’s important to note that Bideau — who trained Olympic champion Cathy Freeman — did admit that he was not familiar with the latest research or data on transgender athletes, however…
“Blind Freddie can see a man usually has an advantage over women in most events, in most sports so how can it be fair?”
Unfortunately, Blind Freddie has been labelled a transphobic bigot and cancelled.
You see, you’re not allowed to believe your lying eyes.
So while Blind Freddie knows it’s not fair for Lia Thomas to swim against females, sporting organisations are busy compiling data and performing painstaking research.

Or what about New Zealand weightlifter Laurel Hubbard. Should Hubbard, a biological bloke, be allowed to lift against chicks?

Honestly, I think there needs to be a lot more research before we can possibly know the answer to that one. I’m certainly not qualified to say one way or another.
Now I know that biological man Hannah Mouncey looks to have a massive physical advantage over the AFL girls, but that’s just your lying eyes.
Without research, and studies, and the compilation of data comprehensible only to people with far more university degrees than you or I, it really is too difficult to say if Mouncey should be playing in the women’s league.

Bideau’s comments came as the World Athletics Council met this week to decide what their policy on trans athletes would be.
Experts were reportedly tinkering with testosterone levels in order to work out what an acceptable level of maleness in female sports would be. All of which leads to a remarkable situation. Consider…
If you’re a man who takes drugs to increase your testosterone so as to win gold in a men’s event, you’re a drug cheat.
But if you’re a man who takes drugs in order to lower your testosterone so as to win gold in a women’s event, well, you’re welcome.
Isn’t 2023 fun!
Don’t question the research or the data. Question your lying eyes.

Oh, that’s a picture of Californian women’s basketballer, the 6 foot 8 inches tall Gabrielle Ludwig who has absolutely no advantage over the girls, I assure you. Nothing to see here. Please smile politely and move right along.
Nic Bideau said this week …
“I don‘t know the research and scientific data about it but certainly when you watch some of these races it is clear that some athletes have a massive physical advantage.”
Well, look Nic, if you’ve not done the research then I think it’s just really hateful to believe your eyes.
He continued:
“If Caitlyn Jenner were to come out and do the women‘s heptathlon after he won the Olympic decathlon, it wouldn’t be really fair would it.”
Again, Nic, if you’re not familiar with the scientific data on this stuff, then I think using logic is very hurtful and nasty. And I hope Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews doubles the number of trans flags flying outside government offices in order to shield trans people from your harmful words.
The question of whether or not transgendered women have any advantage whatsoever in women’s sports is one that calls for research, data and continued analysis.
What is not called for, is eyes. Not your eyes. And not my eyes.
Keep your lying eyes closed. And that way, we’ll all get along just fine.
